Breast Cancer Recurrence and Diagnoses of Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer

In October 2025, Michelle faced a recurrence of breast cancer, marking a difficult phase in her health journey. After overcoming the disease previously, this new diagnosis brought renewed challenges and prompted further medical attention and concern.

Liver Donation Attempt and Discovery

During this period, Michelle traveled to the Cleveland Clinic with the hope of becoming a living liver donor for her niece. Her niece suffers from a rare autoimmune disease known as Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC), which severely damages the liver and creates an urgent need for a transplant.

As Michelle underwent the medical testing required for organ donation, doctors discovered lesions on her bones. This unexpected finding resulted in Michelle being denied as a donor. She was heartbroken that she could not help her niece, but also grateful that the thorough testing revealed the spread of her own cancer.

Diagnosis of Metastatic Stage 4 Breast Cancer

Following the discovery, Michelle was diagnosed with metastatic Stage 4 breast cancer. The cancer had advanced to her bones, causing necrosis of the bone marrow. This diagnosis clarified the cause of her symptoms and set a new direction for her medical care and treatment. Michelle is currently undergoing treatment. While metastatic breast cancer is not curable, it is treatable.

Despite these challenges, Michelle remains determined to survive. She continues to hold onto her faith and hope, aiming to maintain a good quality of life throughout her treatment journey.
